Anyone for a Cookie?
Blog Entry: Friday 26 Feb 2010
Local chefs in Palm Springs in the United States have been challenged to do just that and come up with a new and unique way to serve a cookie.
The Smart Cookie Chefs’ Challenge Fundraiser is organised by the San Gorgonio Girl Scout Council, and aims to get local chefs involved with the iconic product that is the Girl Scout cookie.
Last year the People’s Choice Award went to shortbread stuffed with pork tenderloin, which used the cookies to add a unique flavour to the cornbread stuffing base. But the cookie to be crowned Smart Cookie Grand Champion was the Dasiy-Go-Round after they were transformed into a tasty ginger cake.
This year’s competition sees seven chefs competing with the choice of using any iconic Girl Scout cookies as inspiration. Anything from shortbreads to peanut butter patties, lemonades and thin mints could be transformed into a delectable new dish.
