British Strawberry Season Begins!

A British strawberry belongs on a buttered scone
The juicy British strawberry symbolises the start of summer, the warm-up to Wimbledon, the time to mix a jug of Pimms, and indulge in the quintessential English cream tea.
Diana Henry’s ‘sour-cream scones with strawberry almost-jam’ for the Telegraph is a fresh fruity treat without the usual sugar content of normal jam.
Instead, the strawberries become a ‘thick, chunky, fresh-tasting purée’ which is a perfect combination with the sour-cream on top of the traditional scones slathered in real butter.
