Butter Mountains

Butter Mountains
Butter Mountains at Robuchon à Galera in Macau.
You're sitting in a restaurant, eagerly awaiting the fresh bread when a mountain of butter is wheeled up to your table...

As you know, here at FoB, we are quite fond of butter, and the idea of being presented with a mountain of the stuff makes us weak at the knees!

If you are of the same persuasion, then a trip to Asia might just be in order. Restaurants in Asia have moved away from the traditional condiments of olive oil and balsamic vinegar and are instead relishing in butter – half metre tall mounds of butter to be precise!

The three-star Michelin restaurant Robuchon à Galera in Macau is one eatery that features these butter mountains. Each guest is presented with bread and then their desired amount of butter is ceremoniously curled off the mountain with silver spoons.

We couldn’t be happier to see butter being treated with the respect that it deserves!
