Who knew Butter was so useful?
Ever wondered who holds the record for eating the most butter? Of course you have!

We love everything to do with butter, including the trivia that surrounds our favourite product. So we have collated a few of our favourite butter facts to brighten and enlighten your day!

Did you know that the German’s love butter as much as we do? Their expression “alles ist in butter“ translated as “everything is in butter“ means that everything is in order.

Back in the Middle ages fragile articles were often transported using butter – just like we would use bubble wrap today. Precious items were dropped into warm liquid butter which solidified as it cooled down and protected the fragile goods in transit. Upon arrival, the butter was heated up and simply poured off.

The English word “butterfly” has its origins in the medieval superstition that witches used to transform into butterflies and steal butter and cream from farmers.

And lastly, the world record for butter eating is seven quarter-pound sticks of salted butter in just five minutes. This honour is held by ex-competitive eater Don Moses Lerman.
