Today is St Andrew's Day, dedicated to celebrating all things Scottish and therefore the perfect day to bake up a batch of traditional buttery goodies.

There are so many delicious Scottish recipes, that we had a hard time choosing between them, but our particular favourite are the Aberdeen breakfast favourite, Traditional Butteries. Also known as morning rolls, or rowies, they are buttery, salty rolls similar to croissants. “I love my butteries toasted, buttered and with strawberry jam, washed down with a mug of tea,” says Scottishrecipes.co.uk.

If you’ve got a sweeter tooth, this recipe for Scottish Butter Shortbread by Delia Smith is the perfect treat. “This is the real thing – it can’t be made in a factory, says Delia. “Using the fine semolina gives the shortbread a wonderful crunchy texture, and the flavour is extremely buttery.”

Happy St Andrew’s Day to all our fellow Friends of Butter!
