Chocolate gravy anyone? Photo by: André Baranowski
Here at FoB we love chocolate and we love gravy. So why not have chocolate gravy?
But before you panic and envision us pouring chocolate sauce over a turkey – let us explain. This is actually an American delicacy that originates in the South and is a traditional accompaniment for biscuits, pancakes and waffles. So it is more of a chocolate sauce, but we just love calling it a gravy!
Ingredients:
8 tbsp unsalted butter
1 cup sugar
1 ⁄ 2 cup cocoa powder
1 ⁄ 4 cup flour
2 cups milk
1 ⁄ 2 tsp vanilla extract
Method:
1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Whisk together the sugar, cocoa, and flour in a bowl; add to the melted butter; whisk. Slowly add milk, whisking constantly, until smooth.
2. Bring to a simmer; cook until thick, 2–3 minutes. Whisk in vanilla.
