But before you get started, why not perfect your baking skills by visiting the famous Betty’s tea shop in Harrogate, Yorkshire, for a one day course dedicated to helping you make the perfect pudding.
Paul Vallely heads north for the Independent, admitting he’s “never been much good at baking”.
“You get out what you put in,” claims Paul Gray, course tutor and operations manager at Betty’s tea shop. “You have to go for the best with every ingredient.”
Real butter is, of course, a key ingredient in Christmas Pudding, so it’s essential to get it right. The course instructs it’s aspiring chefs to cream butter with sugar, adding beaten eggs in minute portions as they do so.
“Beat it till it looks like butter-cream before you add the egg,” advises Amy Callin, the second tutor on the course.
