Butter Triumphs Over Spread in BBC Experiment
Jimmy Doherty explains how your food is really made. BBC.co.uk
Natural, real butter was championed by the BBC this week when Jimmy Doherty set the record straight on the processing behind Britain's foods in BBC One's Jimmy's Food Factory.

While the methods for making cheese, testing the quality of eggs, and creating low fat spread are laborious and don’t always produce perfect results, Jimmy proved that butter not only tastes fantastic, but is free from over-processing, and can be enjoyed even in its most natural form.

During the programme, broadcast on Wednesday evening, Jimmy set about making his own butter, and his own spread made from vegetable oil. By pouring cream into a jar, sealing tightly, and shaking for half an hour, Jimmy found himself with a lump of delicious butter! The spread experiment fared less well, when after adding a number of ingredients, and mixing them together he ended up with a substance that looked like spread, but tasted, quite simply, awful.

Watch Jimmy battle it out between butter and spread in the full episode of Jimmy’s Food Factory at BBC.co.uk.
