Make Your Burns Night Buttery
Blog Entry: Monday 25 Jan 2010
Formal Burns Night suppers are usually hosted by organisations such as the Freemasons or St Andrews Societies and follow a rigid structure. But anyone can celebrate Robert Burns on this night and informal dinners usually just include some traditional Scottish dishes and a little poetic banter.
But if Haggis is the only Burns Night dish you can think of – have no fear! While actually much tastier than its reputation suggests, Haggis is not the only traditional Burns Night dish.
Bashed Neeps is not only a fun name to say, it is also pretty easy to make. The recipe simply involves some turnips and butter, seasoned with a few chives, some ginger and pepper – all mashed (or bashed) together.
Happy Burns Night!
