Dr Seuss' Butter Battle Book
Today we want to pay tribute to the legendary author Dr Seuss, who would be 105 today. His most famous works include 'Cat in the Hat' and 'Green Eggs and Ham', but we particularly love 'The Butter Battle Book'.
The Butter Battle Book is a rhyming story written by Seuss around the time of the Cold War. During a time of rationing and dispute, the book makes a simple parody of war using the conflict of two cultures; the Yooks, who chose to eat their bread with the butter-side up, and the Zooks, who live on the opposite side of a long dividing wall and eat their bread with the butter-side down!
The Butter Battle Book was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year.
