Luckily Felicity Cloake from guardian.co.uk has compiled a guide to cooking the perfect festive dinner.
Her advice covers all the basics from turkey and gravy to sage and onion stuffing and even homemade mince pies with brandy butter. For the turkey, Felicity recommends basting the bird generously with melted butter, seasoning it, topping with streaky bacon and then wrapping it in foil, before popping in the oven. For the brandy butter, her tips include adding light brown sugar to give a caramelised flavour to the butter.
