Too Much of a Good Thing

We all know that butter is one of the most important ingredients in any creation… but bacon ice cream?

Like anyone, renowned food author David Lebovitz has his favourite foods. But in a more unusual move he decided to find out what would happen if he simply mixed them all together.


The result was an intriguing ice cream that might not make it into his book ‘The Perfect Scoop’. He started with a healthy dose of butter and then added a touch of milk, cream, some eggs and…bacon.


But before you panic it is worth mentioning that he did make the bacon slightly more palatable by candying the thick strips with a generous coating of sugar and then threw in a little rum for good measure.


The result? A batch of unique homemade rum and bacon flavoured ice cream. Worth a taste at least!
