  1. Butter is made from fresh milk and has no artificial additives.
  2. Not only does butter taste great, but it also naturally enhances the flavours of other foods.
  3. The ingredients of margarine include: oil-soluble ingredients (such as colours, flavours and emulsifiers), which are added to water-soluble ingredients (like brine, starch, milk proteins and whey).
  4. Additives, such as emulsifiers, preservatives and stabilisers, are needed to ensure that margarines don’t go off as soon as they arrive in-store. Colourings are also needed to give margarine its yellow appearance.
  5. Butter contains Vitamins A, D and E, which are essential for healthy eyes (especially night vision), strong bones and healthy skin.
  6. Even with modern rapidly changing fashions in diets, one thing is still widely accepted: everybody needs to eat some fat. Recent British Government estimates suggest that up to 30% of a person’s daily dietary intake should be fat, with saturated fat – the sort of fats found in butter – contributing a third of that total.
  7. In the UK, Government advice is that up to 35% of our Calories can come from fat, with saturated fat – found in butter – contributing up to 10% of our daily Calories.
