The ingredients of margarine include: oil-soluble ingredients (such as colours, flavours and emulsifiers), which are added to water-soluble ingredients (like brine, starch, milk proteins and whey).

Additives, such as emulsifiers, preservatives and stabilisers, are needed to ensure that margarines don’t go off as soon as they arrive in-store. Colourings are also needed to give margarine its yellow appearance.

Butter contains Vitamins A, D and E, which are essential for healthy eyes (especially night vision), strong bones and healthy skin.
